FF # 7 : SIGN in Pizzeria

Aiihh....hampir aja ketinggalan..gara-gara 2 hari kemarin internet connection tiba-tiba mogok:D

I dont always carry my cam with me, and if I do, my DH will scowl at me for clicking away in the road..:)) Poor me...Anyway, sometimes back, while waiting for our son in the school, we decided to have a cup of cofee in a pizzaria nearby. And then I found this SIGN which I thought quite cute. I mean, India is very diverse. Some people dont eat pork, some dont eat beef, some even dont have anything with Onion in it..:D

I hope the sign is clear enough, though....

So, here is my entry for FF# 7: SIGN:

Yang mau ikutan bisa klik di SINI

When I cross one particular roads which has many BIG trees, I quickly took out my cam and after several clicks I decided this ONE will be my entry for FF# 6...:D

Thanks for looking and Have a nice weekends ^_^

Skirt and Skirt

Feel a bit down today. I thought of finishing the dress that I've started, but I forgot to buy the lining fabric, so it's gonna be few days late again:(. It wasnt very safe they say to go to market this week (After last week's blast). Seems I have to wait for a while.
So, few things I've done and I've posted them in my other BLOG, since it's simpler there to upload just the photos :D
Anyway, here are few of them:

White Top

The skirt

Pinafore & pants
I use handloom cotton fabric with typical Indian prints

The Inside & button hole sticth

Other detail

Lolitta skirt

The lining

That's all...and hope you have a better days than mine..:)

This is photo to participate in FOTO FUN which is Hosted by ICHA. This week's challenge is about AIR or WATER or PAANI <== klik there if you what to participate, ok..;)

About the photo:

I took on our way up to Shillong few months back. It's the picture of BARAPANI -the big water- which strecth up to few kilometres on the way up to Shillong in Meghalaya State. The day was perfect, it highlighted the greenery which looking fresher after heavy rain in the morning.

Hope you enjoy it...thanks for looking..^_^

Few stuff and a little ranting...:D

I haven't posting for a loong time..:D. I made few things and got lil busy with this and that...Anyway, all's well...I'm getting ready for my next exhibition next month, but still hasnt been able to get anything done. My son's entrance for the BIG SCHOOL is on 19th, so inwardly I am quite nervous:D. The system is bugging me no ends, but again I cant go againts it. Well, who am I to complain, rite?? So, till the high n mighty ministry of education do something about it, we ~ parents ~ will continue teaching our toddlers ABC & Math as early as possible, so that our children will get a seat in a DECENT school.
Enough of my, here I made another set of Pink top-pants-stole for the same girl, since her Mom said she love the previous one so much..(yay!!)

And here is inspired by my friend Monika . Well, I dont have maple trees here, but I always love the maple leaves...and its color during fall season. And there's a challenge in Crafsters which I wish I could participate...but I didnt get the time to finish it :(. far here is what I've done...I thought of doing few maple leaves on the upper right corner. *what do you think?*.
In the beginning I was not very sure with the color...but I think it looks ok now..:D
(oops forgot to upload the full fotos...It suppose to be a placemat, btw..:D)

This is a tray cloth...I did post it in my other BLOG. So I hope you dont get bored to see it again here..*LOL* suppose to be some flower but it looks more like chilli tree to me..:). So chilli tree it is...

Thanks for looking...and comment would be nice..;)

9 Words Women Use

*** Dari MILIS tetangga....I find this very amusing..:D

(1) Fine: This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

(2) Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

(3) Nothing: This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

(4) Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

(5) Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

(6) That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

(7) Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome' . that will bring on a 'whatever').

(8) Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying F-- YOU!

(9) Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

What I Made Today

Last week, in the exhibition one of my Uncle's friend came and ask if I can make a dress of her 2,5 years old DD. So, I made this today, and add a dupatta (stole) for her since nowadays she like to dress up like her mother (she always wears salwar kameez). Unfortunately, no one make "salwar kameez" for 2 years old. Well, this is not actually a "salwar" but she said that will do for her DD. *mental note: learn to make salwar :D*

So, today, I made this pair for the little girl..she wants something in PINK..:). It's very simple one. I got the Tute for the peasant top from Vegbee. She has the coolest Tutorial in her blog, btw..:D *thanks Vegbee*

The detail:

That's all for today....I have several projects in mind, hopefully will get them done before November.

My sons singing to me while I was writing this:

In the morning, in the morning..we say good morning

In the afternoon, in the afternoon,..we say good afternoon

In the evening, in the evening...we say good evening

In the night, in the night, when there's moon light

We kiss mom & dad Good Night...;)

So..I guess, I say Good Night too ...;)

Hasil Pameran Perdana

I'm officially back after my first ever exihibtion here . Well, it was a hectic week and the exhibition was extended for 1 day. In the beginning I really don't know what to expect. I keep varieties of stuff, from my handmade clothes/bags/pouches to Batik & Jilbab (itung-itung mempopulerkan jilbab disini..:D)

Anyway, it went off well and I got quite good response and even custom order..(YAY!!), some even asked to be informed when I have my next exhibition. InshaAllah, I will have my next exhibition on November, December and March 2009.

What I learnt from my fellow sellers are:

1. Most of them are homemakers who's doing their business from home. I met one lady, she must be over 60 years old. Her stall was opposite mine. She's selling Mekhala Chadar (Assamese Traditional Dress). She has her own boutique, she drives around her self (in this part of India this is something commendable!!). she teaches village girls to do embroidery and other needleworks. She's doing around 10 exhibition in and out of the city.

2. There's always someone who appreciate your handmade stuff.

well, in the beginning I'm not sure if someone even take a look at the dresses or bags that I made. And I was so happy that somebody ACTUALLY liked it and BOUGHT it ha ha ha...

3. Always come prepared..hehehe...I mean, like other details: white sheet to cover the walls & tables, nails, hammer, old bed cover to cover you stall at night..he he he...

I am afraid I didnt take much So, here are few fotos that I took....

My Stall

Mine again

Opposite stall..(punya si tante )

Stall tetangga...Assam Silk Tunic & Shirts

Just a little up date

These few days been busy with my first ever handycraft & handloom exhibition. It's on for 1 week from 8th to 14th september from 10 am to 8 pm. So it's kinda hectic days for me. First days was going ok and a bit tiring, since I haven't been "working" for the last 6 years hehehe...anyway, it's fun. I got to meet lots of new sellers who mainly ladies who run their business from home just like me and they do exhibition from time to time.

Actually we have lots of exhibition in here. We have this Haat call NEDFI haat which exhibit craft from North East Indian states. Different groups will hold the exhibition. SO if I want to join certain group I have to approach the committee. It's not that easy and at time needs recommendation from senior members, which is in my case, I was introduced by one friend of my MIL.

Yeasterday was good, cos few people really like what I made and some even give custom order..(YAY) I learnt one thing "never underestimate your talent" he he he...The dress that I thought no body will take a look at it, was sold, even few bags & purses...:D

so, friends, wish me luck for today...I'll update the story later again....:)

Miss you all

Happy Teacher's Day

So sebelumnya, to all my teacher friends

Well, sebetulnya si anaknya yg harus bikin, tp karena udah malem & they will make a mess instead of making the card, jadi emaknya yg ngebut bikin kartu ha ha ha....setelah bongkar-bongkar "our small room" , nemu deh kertas kuning. Tapi mau diapain?? Trus telp. Bapaknya anak-anak, tolong di print-kan tulisan Happy teacher's day deh pokoknya.

Bags and everything else

Been making lots of small bags (pouches) these days...and busy with my first venture HERE, and my exhibition next month..I feel like 24 hours is never enough if you have to do all by your self. Anyway, my dear Mom inLaw is really BIG support since she helps me a lot with looking after the kids (though I have maid, but can trust them nowadays??), so that I have a little time to do this and that..:) ..thats including Blogging and I'm too much into blogging in my other BLOG nowadays. And I got lots of stuff to upload to my ETSY shop and havent taken any photos cos my cam just refused to work. Thankfully my Dearest Hubby got another one for me after seeing me struggling with editing each and every photos I took using my handycam..:X Isn't he sweet??
OK enough about ranting, now I want to talk about these little bags I made. Well, one is finished and when I pulled the zipper, i just gave away!!!.Now what do I do?? I hate ~repeat H*A*T*E ~ opening it again since it means I have to open everything and start making it all over again. So I do the next best thing, by putting it away till I got better idea what to do with it. *Anyone ???*

so, here they are: (pssstt! the stripe one at the back is the one having prob. with the zip:D)

Oh and I started learing CROCHET too, by the way. I've seen my friend here making pretty crochet stuff that I decided I have to learn. Well, this aunt of my DH knows about it and she tought me a little bit before she went to visit her DD, so here it is:

I did the neck line and the mirror work (what's the best word to describe it actually??) just to give a little accent there. This is is my fave fabric. Pure cotton with this print. Though it's quite common here in INDIA but still I love the print. I had one in Pink and Green too...:D. If you like it, you can take a look at the detail of the tunic HERE

Hmm..that's all for today...hope you all have a great weekends...just remember: Stay healthy, eat healthy and Have a nice CRAFTY day...;)

Another Shop :: Destination :: INDYA

Q: What a like-minded girls do when they beautifully & happily stranded in this colorful INDIA?

A: They open an ONLINE SHOPS!!....

Yes, that’s what keeps me and dear friend Wulan a little busy these days…so, ladies COME AND VISIT OUR SHOPS @ (Indonesian) OR (English)

Thank you and have a nice day ;)

Lunch Bag, Purselette & Pouch

Finally after weeks of laziness, I decided to come back to make something in my sewing machine.
And here what I come up with:

1. Small lunch bag (or you can use it as diaper bas as well ~ its quite spacious). I use casement fabric. I did the applique and embroidered the leaves. I thing the applique flowers are too big..:D Anyway lesson learnt, next time I'll make better one (hopefully..;)

2. I have this black n white handloom fabric for quite sometimes now. I wanted to make pouches/purse with it, so here the first two of my pouch
cosmetic pouch triagle side
Thank to Wulan for giving me the idea about the detail/zipper. :D

the purselette/wristlette. The same size (18 x 13 cm) with straight side

the detail

I cut another one but I run out of zipper..:D

Hope you like it. Comment would be nice and very much appreciated...
Thanks for looking..;)

Have a nice DAY

Just came back

We just came back from Shillong for holiday. Actually, it's long overdue. Due to my DH hectic schedule in the office, we simply couldn't go earlier. My elder son was very excited the moment we said "we are going to Shillong" since he loves to run around in the Golf link there.

Oh, by the way,  Shillong is a Hill Town, the capital of Meghalaya state in NE India. It's almost 3 hours drives from where we live now. It's a popular destination for weekend gateways because of its weather. It's relatively cold throughout the year. It has the popular CHEERA PUNJI or SOHRA, the wettest place on earth with its natural root bridge, caves, and waterfalls. Too bad we couldn't go there this time.

Anyway, we stayed in Pinewood Hotel. It's a government hotel so the service etc is SO SO, but the good thing is the bathroom is clean..:D. Well, I'm a bit particular about this one since we traveled with children below 5 years:D

The hotel is right in the heart of the town. So it's easy to access. Shillong is not a big town anyway, but it's always more practical to stay in a hotel that has special lawn for the kids to run around, and near the park and shopping area. Ehm...about shopping, my DH said "we are going on holiday, not for shopping..:D" and I said, "Well, that's from man's point of view, from my point of view, a holiday is not complete without shopping"..Rite, ladies?????? So, we spent 2 nights there, we went to Elephant Falls. This waterfall has 3 steps of water falling. The main Falls is right down there. I don't know how high exactly but it's quite tiring. Luckily the weather is such that you don't feel lethargic so much and it's worth it to climb down and up and touch the cool water:D.

Ward Lake for boating & feeding the fish & ducks,

Lady Hydery Park to see the flowers ~ but too bad this time the flower has become bad due to excessive rain,

and to play a bit...

We went Golf Link to run around a bit. It was quite cloudy and lots of people playing golf in one side, foot ball down there and also cricket in one side. It's a sprawling place. It was just nice to sit and watch the kids run around....

And of course the popular Police Bazaar. I visited few emporiums too and got few interesting stuff.

Here are few stuff that I bought: 1. Clock with various pulses inside. I bought this from a souvenir stall at the Elephant Falls owned by an elderly Khasi Lady:

2. Craft books/magazines. Found them in one of the old dusty bookstall. The magazines are secondhand of course, but it's still in good condition with the pattern attached. So I just couldn't leave them behind, though my DH make faces at me...:D

I think that's all for today....:) Thanks for dropping by and Have a Nice Day
