{TUTORIAL} Adding Zipper Pocket

Hello,
The last two days was euphoria for me. It's the first time I got published in an online media and that too on Ecwid Blog! I was contacted by them by email early this month and was so excited about it. You can read my Behind the Scene Story in Ecwid Blog. I hope I can inspire more mothers who decided to left 9 to 5 job and pursue her dreams.

Now let's get down to the fun stuff. I got email from Patti, asking about how to add zipper pocket on the Phone Pouch. Thank you so much Patti!! Adding zipper pouch is very easy. If you already got the pattern  here is what you have to do. (if you haven't,  you can get it at the end of this post)

After you cut all your Exterior, Lining and Interfacing pieces as per pattern instructions, cut 2 extra lining pieces of Main Panel.

1. Fuse the interfacing on to the wrong side of the back exterior piece. Mark 1.5" down on one of the short end and cut.

Do the same with one of the lining piece.

2. Put the lining and exterior pieces…

Red Riding Hood Tote Bag

This is also a custom order from the Exotic Lady (that's her boutique's name) - the story in my previous post . She wanted a pink tote bag /diaper bag.
I have this red riding hood fabric from my trip last year which she chose. It has a drawstring closure which is very convenient for diapers bag.

I match it with a dark grey cotton. I used interfacing and batting for this bag and it's perfect. It's sturdy and soft.

a wide box bottom give it enough space to carry baby's stuff around.

polkadots is always my favorite lining. it gives a happy aura ..or is it just me ^_^

and of course my fave hexies has to be there. I spy Red Riding Hood hexies ^_^
Until then
Happy Sewing

Elephant quilts

There was a little handmade shop in my town run by a very talented lady. She has a bakery and a handmade baby stuff  shop. The shop though small is very beautifully decorated. She made baby dresses, mostly for newborn to about 2-3 years old baby. I often visited the shop but never met her. And in one evening when I dropped by to pick up some pastries, I went inside her little shop and met her. We talked and I showed her the pictures of what I've been doing. Well, long story short, she liked my handmade stuff and ordered few stuff for her daughter who's expecting a baby. Her daughter likes elephants and I happen to have this pretty elephant fabrics which will be perfect for her. I mixed and matched it with stripes and dots.

She wanted a summer quilt. We discuss all the possibilities and we decided to put a layer of solid cotton as a batting, instead of the usual batting and use mulmul cotton at the back.

this quilt is perfect for spring or summer. I quilted in the ditch around…

Back to Quilt ~ for a baby boy

It's done!
A friend of mine was expecting a baby boy and  few months ago she asked me to make a tote bag for her using Indian cotton fabrics.
I've been busy making passport wallets for the past few months and enjoyed it tremendously.
And here's what I came up with

The bag has a drawstring closure. I was thinking of using zippers but as diaper bags drawstring seems to be more versatile since you can fit in more stuff without worrying about the zippers.
With the bag I made a matching mini quilt.
it's 30" x 30" which is perfect for new born. It's meant for spring/summer weather so I used flannel batting. It turned out very soft.

one more shot

I've been using flannel batting for few quilts that I made and I like it, esp for my kind of weather which is quite humid during the summer. It's a perfect covering in AC room during the summer months ^v^ .
If you need the fabric, you can visit my shopor contact me in my FACEBOOK . I'd be glad you hea…
