Simple Guide - taking good photos for your online shop

When you are selling online, a GOOD, professional looking photography is a MUST. I've done a lot of reading {and I still do} on how to take a good product photography.
I follow these few simple guides:
1.Natural Light is the BEST
But notdirect light. Which means, take your photos in the room which doesn't get direct sunlight. I have a small balcony adjacent to my room, which is has a good natural light. The balcony is facing North. The best time is before 11 am and around 3-4 pm. And you ask WHY? because indirect natural light will give you the best color of your product.

My sewing room has natural light most of the time, but it's facing East, so it gets direct light most of the time. When I took photo in my sewing room, the result is either too bright or too dark.

Never take your photos at night, even with sufficient light
I took this photo at night with a poor background and I had a tough time editing it.

NEVER use flash light. The best picture is the one which doe…

Wish you happily ever after

Love and marriage, love and marriage
Go together like a horse and carriage
This I tell you brother
You can't have one without the other

Love and marriage, love and marriage
It's an institute you can't disparage
Ask the local gentry
And they will say it's elementary

Try, try, try to separate them
It's an illusion
Try, try, try, and you will only come
To this conclusion

Shabby Chic love

I always love shabby chic style with soft pastel colors and ribbons
After making my iPad sleeve, I was in the mood of making another one with pastel colors and maybe a little handle, which you can carry around and can fit in your iPad with smart cover, wallet and an iPhone
and here it is:

I used fleece and as batting. Fleece is nice to quilt since it doesn't move, so for small projects I don't need to pin them

again I quilted it with my fave decorative stitch this time I lengthen the stitch a little bit

The grey fabric was from my fave Bombay dyeing. It's linen cotton for men's shirt.  It's difficult to get a linen here, so when I see one I pick up. Though it's a bit expensive but it's worth it

the back side is plain grey and I love how the quilting turned out
simplicity is always the best, imho ^_^
This bag is listed in my Etsy Shop and is ready to ship

Until then,

I need a new iPad sleeve

I was cutting off jelly rolls for the shop and looking at my design wall. I made this test block a couple days ago and just put it up in my design wall

I was thinking of making mug rug with it. But then, I need an iPad sleeve. My iPad has a smart cover but it's tearing off and it's not even 6 months old =,=. I bought it in Changi Airport for $35 >,<

So, I put my jellyrolls away and start working on it and after an hour my iPad has a new sleeve. Yay!

It fits snugly and I love the grey combination . Quilted using my favorite stitch.
I used double batting - outer and lining to give more protection.

I still have the fabrics and I think I'll put it up in my shop for custom order.
I realize one thing:  I love working on patchwork with small squares 2.5" - 3" and HST from charm piece
Ah, I still have few WIPs that I plan to finish before the end of this month {IF I'm not distracted} . One of them is this placemat. It will be a set of 4 and I almost finish wit…

Few finish and WIP

I just recovered from cold and cough. It's getting very dusty and dry here since winter is approaching. It's quite cool in the morning and evening and pleasant throughout the day. Though sometimes I still need the fan.  Since I can't have cough syrup { I am allergic to certain medicines}, so I usually made ginger lemonade when I have cough. It works wonder for me. I add ginger, cloves, cinnamon sticks and pepper corn in 1,5 cup of water and boil it for 3-4 minutes till the water reduced and add lemon juice + honey. I have this drink 3 times a day. It helps with the sore throat and body ache too.

After three days, I get back to my list of stuff I have to do {sewing wise}. House works can always wait when I'm in the mood to sew. Ha!
First I finished this 2 cute mug rugs or mini mats or candle mats

They will be available in the shop
